Description

From New York Times bestselling author of the “twisty-mystery” (Vulture) novel In a Dark, Dark Wood, comes The Woman in Cabin 10, an equally suspenseful and haunting novel from Ruth Ware—this time, set at sea.

In this tightly wound, enthralling story reminiscent of Agatha Christie’s works, Lo Blacklock, a journalist who writes for a travel magazine, has just been given the assignment of a lifetime: a week on a luxury cruise with only a handful of cabins. The sky is clear, the waters calm, and the veneered, select guests jovial as the exclusive cruise ship, the Aurora, begins her voyage in the picturesque North Sea.

At first, Lo’s stay is nothing but pleasant, but as the week wears on, frigid winds whip the desk, gray skies fall, and Lo witnesses what she can only describe as a dark and terrifying nightmare: a woman being thrown overboard. The problem? All passengers remain accounted for—and so, the ship sails on as if nothing has happened, despite Lo’s desperate attempts to convey that something (or someone) has gone terribly, terribly wrong...

With surprising twists, spine-tingling turns, and a setting that proves as uncomfortably claustrophobic as it is eerily beautiful, Ruth Ware offers up another taut and intense read in The Woman in Cabin 10—one that will leave even the most sure-footed reader restlessly uneasy long after the last page is turned.

It was a slow read. Didn't really keep my interest like other books can/do. However, after hearing so much about it I needed to read it and find out the ending. Read the whole thing through and felt "meh, it was fine" by the ending. Sadly, I had higher hopes for it because of how much I had heard about it.

Why did I let myself believe all the hype about this book? It is not at all like 'girl on the train'. That book was written with a passion and understanding of serious readers. This was not. I downloaded it because I was desperate for a good read. Do yourself a favour and don't fall for the noise about his book.
  • Bloody awful.

Omg. Horrible. Rubbish. Bad plot. Badly written. Very close to the Girl on the Train but whereas that was a good read, this is not. Female star is surly rude and stupid. I would have liked to have said naive but no- dumb beyond belief. She is unlikeable and unbelievable. This book tries way to hard and in the end bores and frustrates the reader like a bad run on movie. Way better things to read.

It's one of those thrillers that makes you keep reading till the end and leaves you "meh!" At the end. It's pretty straightforward. Nothing too special about it. Could be better, especially the ending. Some loose ends could have been fixed by the writer. It makes me think that the writer got tired by the end of the story and just ended it like, you know, "meh!"
