A tale that rings true, only it's most likely a fiction. Honest and brave this tale speaks of the emotions of man, struggling to deal with mortality and hope. A must read for anyone looking to reflect and admire a great piece of literature.

I read this story again after many, many years. Are there ANY short stories like this anymore? It's really a very simple story, but its told so well, I couldn't stop until the end. I really felt for the old man, especially at the end, but that is the best part of this tale. The old man triumphs even as he loses, to the sea. Not all tales have happy endings, and that is what makes this one great.
