Romance, suspense, and a little voodoo.

Sloppy drinking habits. Stunted love life. Professional humiliation in a doomed celebrity trial. It’s no wonder high-strung Texas attorney Katie flees for the serenity of a tropical island, even if it’s the one where her parents died in a tragic accident. But when she gets there, the accident looks a lot like murder, the island seems more sinister than serene, and there’s no one to save Katie from the bad guys, except for herself.

  • Almost...

    From IamPrincessBob
The first 7/8 of the book was great, but the wrap up at the end with the reveal about her parents killers was short and unsatisfying. Part of the fun of reading is trying to figure out who the bad guys are, and the story just didn't deliver that. It felt like someone said that the book was too long and the word count had to be reduced by condensing the last part of the story into a few pages.
  • Saving Grace

    From MerriReader
Captured my interest as quickly as the sentences moved, carrying me into the excitement of the story. Each chapter flowed nicely to the next one, leading me onward. The knowledge of the author about the legal advice added to make the plot believable. However, the ending fell a bit flat, as if the author ran out of words or had a time limit.
  • Loved it!

    From Hadassa H.
I'm so glad I tried this free book....I loved it so much I bought the next two in the series. This book is full of wonderful, well-developed characters that are a joy to read about.
  • Life

    From Wine please
Life is what happens when we are busy making other plans. A quote and a line in a Beatles song and what really happens. This story is about the life of a smart, caring woman who's life just won't follow her pre-imagined route. Beautiful island settings! Good guys, bad guys and people who live in the grey zone. Good pacing. The author refuses to make the ending a trite simplistic "happily ever after". Thank you.
