Description

Biochemistry provides an understanding of the four classes of biologically important molecules and the main types of reactions they undergo. It also examines the structures and functions of eukaryotic cells (animal and plant), and the mechanisms of transport across cell membranes. Included are digital assets to help visualize biochemical and cellular processes, as well as activities, investigations, and questions for students to research and analyze.

Biochemistry is a unit of McGraw-Hill Ryerson’s Biology 12 Student Resource developed to meet the Ontario Grade 12 (SBI4U) science curriculum and also supports related science curriculums across Canada.

This textbook follows the grade 12 biology course fairly well. Our school uses the Nelson textbooks, so this was an additional resource for me. It covers lots of material with multiple choice and true/false questions at the end of each section. The only problems I with this textbook are the lack of in depth questions with answers (biology is more than just multiple choice questions!) and the sometimes seemingly rushed content. I'd probably give it 3 stars, but considering the really cheap $4 price for an entire unit, I have it four.
