In the Buddhist tradition, meditation is used to defuse the source of all the trouble-the illusion of self and other. In Ch'an (or Zen), the aim is to overcome thought and defilement. Having done this, and with thoughts no longer stirring, the real substance of mind becomes evident. Without thoughts and without the illusion of self and other, greed, anger and hatred have no place to arise.

    I enjoyed this book very much. It will join a growing list of similar books that I read over and over without worrying too much if I understand every word. If you are not familiar with Buddhist terms it can get a bit daunting. I often find that sometimes several hours after reading or even days I will get a little drop of insight.

    I found this book very helpful, helped me to learn one of the first steeps into astral projection, to learn to mediate I think is important to help improve yourself, I want to have an open mind about people and the world. Learning meditation I believe will help me with that and also help me become a better person, and help to achieve my goal of astral travel.
