Gideon calls me his angel, but he’s the miracle in my life. My gorgeous, wounded warrior, so determined to slay my demons while refusing to face his own.

The vows we'd exchanged should have bound us tighter than blood and flesh. Instead they opened old wounds, exposed pain and insecurities, and lured bitter enemies out of the shadows. I felt him slipping from my grasp, my greatest fears becoming my reality, my love tested in ways I wasn’t sure I was strong enough to bear.

At the brightest time in our lives, the darkness of his past encroached and threatened everything we’d worked so hard for. We faced a terrible choice: the familiar safety of the lives we’d had before each other or the fight for a future that suddenly seemed an impossible and hopeless dream…

  • Disappointed 😞

I want to begin by saying I am a diehard fan of this story. The first 3 books captivated me and I read them numerous times, as I couldn't get enough of Gideon and Ava. I was itching to get my hands on the 4th books. The second it came out, I was glued to my iPad with a "do not disturb" sign on my door. The 4th book had pros and cons for me. For starters, I loved that the story was told from Gideon's POV. I thought it added depth to his character and shifted my perspective on their issues. The con for me was that there wasn't much of a story here. There wasn't really a climax or an incident that defines this book. This story had so much potential and in comparisons to the first 3 books, I felt it really feel flat. My initial impression after reading this books was, "Wow, Sylvia Day released a book just for the sake of releasing a book. Where's the actual story here?" I enjoyed the first 3 books a lot more. Let's hope the last installment of this book doesn't disappoint.

Love Eva & Gideon. Their relationship is sweet and sexy. However this book didn't progress their story at all. Hope Sylvia Day wraps this story up in her next book.
  • Disappointed

    From Yxjxxgrztzgcc
Very disappointed that she is drawing out this story into 5 books. Each $10.99. Money grab if you ask me . There are much better books that are all 3 or less books . This book was ok. Nothing really happened . I wish I never started this series . Read Driven Trilogy by k.bromberg. 100 times better.
  • Conflicting

I thought the book was not bad. But compared to the previous ones it fell short. I agree with previous reviews it does seem like day is milking the books and I found my interest lacking. I put the book down often which I haven't done with any of the other books. With that being said I don't usually like reading a series that has not been completed as I am impatient and read to many books. So I forgot what this series was about. I won't be reading the rest until it's completed.
  • Mixed feelings

Found the beginning rather boring, kept putting it away...never did that with the other books in the series. But i kept reading and it got better and better. I cant get enough of Gideon and Eva. It will be a sad day when the series comes to an end. The ending was a bit dry in this book. But leaves me wanting the next book. I would want to read the next book anyway. I am hooked!
  • Ok

Interesting dual perspective but the lack of plot development makes it feel like the author is juicing the franchise

Love the Cross Fire Series, can't wait for novel 5 to come out, this book is so intense you won't want to put it down. Sylvia Day is a great writer who gives great details in her story telling, I heard the series may be a television series in the future I hope it is as raw and real as the books. Gideon and Eva are so exciting to read about I was sad to get to the end of the novel, knowing I won't be able to read more about them. This book is well worth the read, it will leave you wanting more.

Can't wait for the next book to come out :-) love Gideon <3
  • Ok Read

    From Brit-Lor
Nice continuation, but lacked in any real excitement and romance. Written differently from the first two, it was hard to consistently transition into reading from the two perspectives of Eva and Gideon. Really felt like one big intro for whatever come in book four, but still a 'must read.' Now back to waiting.
